Synopsis

In the entertainment world, celebrities often show exaggerated versions of themselves to the public, concealing their true thoughts and struggles beneath elaborate lies. Fans buy into these fabrications, showering their idols with undying love and support, until something breaks the illusion. Sixteen-year-old rising star Ai Hoshino of pop idol group B Komachi has the world captivated; however, when she announces a hiatus due to health concerns, the news causes many to become worried.

As a huge fan of Ai, gynecologist Gorou Amemiya cheers her on from his countryside medical practice, wishing he could meet her in person one day. His wish comes true when Ai shows up at his hospital—not sick, but pregnant with twins! While the doctor promises Ai to safely deliver her children, he wonders if this encounter with the idol will forever change the nature of his relationship with her.

Oshi no Ko is what happens when a self-indulgent writer and a mediocre artist team up: An exposition-heavy mess with flat character designs and overall pretty unimaginative visual storytelling. Combine that with a superficial studio and you get an anime that looks good on the surface but has no soul. Kinda ironic given the subject matter of the story.

The story follows the apologetic simp trend that is so popular these days. You get a dozen cute girls that all look the same but with different clothes and wigs, you got your edgy protagonist, you get the pretentious "self-awareness" that the show tries to show off ...

So I watched the next highest voted anime on MAL, before it dropped in ratings a few weeks later and FMAB went back to no1 as it always does. If you are one of those people who think no1 means anything, FMAB will forever be no1, so you can give up on trying to excuse quality through rankings.

Whomever made the decision to aggregate 3-4 episodes worth of manga into a single episode needs a raise.
