Synopsis

In this magical world, one is easily identified as having magical abilities by a distinctive mark on their face. Those unable to practice magic are swiftly exterminated to maintain the magical integrity of society. However, deep within a forest lies an anomaly in Mash Burnedead, who can be found pumping iron with one arm and lifting a cream puff with the other. This aloof boy with superhuman strength—but no magical abilities—leads a quiet life with his father, far removed from society.

Mash's peace is soon disturbed when the authorities discover his lack of magical powers. They issue him an ultimatum: compete to become a "Divine Visionary," which would force everyone to accept him, or be persecuted forever. To protect his family, he enrolls in the prestigious Easton Magic Academy, which only the most elite and gifted students are allowed to attend. Now, Mash must overcome his shortcomings as a magicless being and surpass the other students—relying solely on his muscles.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (3/12 eps)

If Saitama went to Hogwarts, to become an imperial scholar, then this would be that Anime.

Plot: That is the plot, above, just that. On paper, at least, if not anything else, this should be entertaining by that alone. Add to that stakes and scenarios, you've got yourself a pretty decent script.

On a a side note, although it is Shounen, it is more of a gag Anime than a serious one, so jokes and gags galore. Apart from that there is nothing much to be talked about at this point.

Characters: Thus far almost no character has done anything worth a mention, apart from ... Harry (Da Muggle) Saitama, who has so far done everything except killing someone.

Though a gmilpse or two has been given of most of the main characters, neither has stood out, except the headmaster, who straight up looks and acts like Dumbledore. We also saw McGonagall, only Snape is left.

Animation: Very disappointed by the animation so far, and with A1 Pictures. To be honest, even smaller studios and trashier Anime have better animation this season. The scenes look janky, as if they were not properly edited. The characters look very weird, the backgrounds are as stale as chalk, the flow is stunted, and whenever there is CGI, it really, really, stands out like a sore thumb.

However, if one were to compare each episode, it seems the production value is increasing with each episode. So much so, that episode 1 and episode 3 looks like two entirely different Anime.

On the plus side, the comedy is working well with the low budget meme faces.

Music: Again, disappointing, better than the animation, but still very disappointing. Both the OP and the ED, seem as if they asked a run of the mill K-pop act to compose one for them. The only two pieces of music that sort of seems natural to the Anime are both OSTs, one is eerily similar to Prince Hatas theme from Gintama, and the other one plays whenever Mash does something cool.

Voice acting: Considering the cast, it can only get better with all the characters introduced. If they fail to make use of this star studded cast, then there is clearly no saving this Anime.

Enjoyment: Can't say I've enjoyed much from this Anime so far. Everything looks very below par so far. If this doesn't pick up by episode 6, then this is not worth the time. As mentioned before, on paper this should be interesting, but so far it is only killing the interest with the sub par adaptation.

However, there is still hope, as previously mentioned, the production quality and music is picking up. And as the new characters are introduced, it'll get a lot better.

For reference, the Manga is certainly much superior to the Anime as of now. It feels more fluid and smooth in quality.

Initially I thought, this is like harry potter X one punch man, with maybe a little black clover on top.
But the more episodes go by, the more I'm convinced that it is not just a blatant harry potter and one punch man ripoff (which it is), I'm fully convinced that it is actually a parody of both.
And an awesome and hilarious one at that.

That being said, there is also something about this anime, the art style, the humor, that reminds me of what anime was before every single studio out there was pumping out 10 of the same isekai everyday with the cheapest cgi imaginable..

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is like a Harry Potter X One Punch Man anime. For real I felt like the creator was like. What if I just gave Saitama a head full of hair, and replaced Harry's place in hogwarts and gave it to Saitama. Oh and make him love creme puffs!
