Ccw is a revolutionary work and truly innovates the standards and expectations that come with the genre of animation. The budget seems to be cut after a few minutes, with repeating crowd noise, but give the team a break. You’d be short on cash if all of your funding went towards prestigious visuals like Ccw. Hardly a complaint, but would’ve liked to have seen a no disqualification match between these two, the intensity between these bitter rivals would’ve been amped up to the max with some tables and chairs.

Incredible talent behind this production crew, clear cut 10/10.

Have you played online games where the social component is important? And did you have the feeling that you would live your life in this game, find your love, ignoring the conventions of the game? If yes, then .hack//Sign will seem very close and familiar to you.

This is a story about people who hopefully want to believe that the game is something more than just a game. And literally, history lives on this faith. The characters here are not just invented images. First of all, these are people who control their avatars. At any moment they can leave the game, and for them it ... will cease to matter. And their actions should be regarded from the position that they are trying to abstract from reality, but not get out of it. They don't feel the pain, or the warmth of their close player - but they want to believe it.

However, the composition of this anime is more complex than I described above. After all, there is the main character of this anime - Tsukasa.

Tsukasa doesn't know how he got into this world of the game. The mystery of its origin will hold until the very end. Unlike the players, he feels pain and warmth. However, this feature makes him the loneliest person in this world of illusions. The closest thing that can be cited as an example is LIMBO. And throughout history, he will face a choice - to close himself off from everyone remaining in the twilight world, or to try to return to reality?

Perhaps the period of indeterminacy in the characters is the most boring, but at the same time the most interesting moment of the narrative. After all, as they move forward, their worldview will change.

It is because of the process of character development in such an unusual composition that I think this anime is a damn masterpiece. Perhaps not one anime of this genre has not revealed this so plausibly, at the same time presenting itself as a techno-fantasy fairy tale. And if the director was faced with the task of revealing the social element of online games, then he coped with his task COMPLETELY.

This is one of the most underrated anime I've ever watched. But there is a reason for this - it is very boring. Seriously, in some episodes nothing happens except the characters' dialogues (sometimes with themselves), but at the same time it is... Quite naturally. After all, this story is not meant to entertain you. This story happens naturally. For example, "mushishi" a boring narrative did not prevent you from getting audience love, which suggests that sometimes you can get pleasure from watching only when you overpower yourself. Try to think about what this anime is trying to convey to you.
And then, perhaps, you will come out on your own special wave, "connection" with this story. Yes, even in anime there is catharsis!

But in the end I want to say that you should not be afraid of this catharsis. Entering this twilight, you will probably get the most unusual experience that you have ever received.

I know how dropping anime before at least finishing first season is little forced but I must say how this show is just to childish for my taste and I dont enjoy it very much .
Maybe that is cause I finished AOT before this one and MHA silliness just doesnt work with me after watching said show that is known for being serious and deeper .
Animation was also rather goofy looking and I dont have a feeling Im watching something made in Japan but more from United States.
I know how this show is inspired by Marvel mostly but comic book shows and movies ...

Whom was 'Otonari ni Ginga' created for? Answer: 90% the creator himself; 9% sad mangakas across Japan; 1% regular consumers.

This work of fiction reeks - and I mean REEKS - of self-insert fantasy. Concisely for those who don't know, that means the author wrote himself as the main character. See the plot here: a mangaka in need of an assistant gets a docile, 19 year old girl to live with him as his assistant. Not only is she docile, she is devoted, gifted, efficient, eager to help, a fan of his for some reason, never frustrated nor angry - in fact, outright flawless - and ... stuck, by fate itself no less, to be in a romance with the guy. And I'm not joking, exaggerating or interpreting, the show states it clearly.

It being an obvious self-insert fantasy spoils the experience for anyone who isn't a sad mangaka because there is little redeeming quality. Everything but one aspect of the show revolves around the life of a mangaka. Who's supposed to relate to this? That justifies my claim of it being only 1% for regular consumers.

Now that is one thing on its own. But worse yet, this stuff is objectively written poorly. Yes, objectively, because it is common knowledge that any show should follow this simple guideline: "show, don't tell". Yet 'Otonari ni Ginga' utterly fails at showing and instead opts to tell the audience what they are supposed to feel: for example, at one point we are taken one layer deeper, in the universe of a manga within the show. And our main girl has to say that it's good, that she felt sad when the mentor died, and good when he reappeared, yadda yadda yadda...

Alright, what is the redeeming quality I've spoken of earlier? The supernatural element which introduces a semblance of actual story. That's what's good about it. What's bad about it is two-fold: for one, it serves the self-insert fantasy as this supernatural element binds our two protagonists together. And for two, it's explored so little that 90% of the show remains a slice of life of the mangaka and his assistant.

What about the romance, is it good at least? Judge for yourself with the following information. The two characters behave exactly as expected by the Japanese society. They never burst, they're docile to a fault, the woman submits to the man and there's no physical display of affection. The characters themselves do not behave awkwardly by Japanese standards, but the romance itself is awkward. They're quite distant from one another. They don't share much personal stuff, if any; only a common hobby/passion for manga.

The comedy is non-existent. It's not a romcom, it's a romance.

Art: 7/10 nothing wrong with it, but not spectacular either.
Sound: 5/10 average. I would argue below average for Japanese voice acting standards.
Story: I'm torn. On one hand, all the self-insert aspect deserves no more than a 0/10 or a 1/10. On the other hand, there is a supernatural element which seemingly brings an actual plot, however this side of the story progresses so slowly that it doesn't compensate up to an average rating. I'll give an overall rating of 2/10 for the story.
Enjoyment: 5/10 average.
Overall: 3/10 do not bother unless you feel you can live vicariously through this fresh out of the Japanese mold, mangaka of a main character.

Evangelion is pretty good. Yeah, I don't think that's a significant hot take unless you just hate this show for some reason. Now when I first went to watch this show for the first time, I had only kind of, maybe, somewhat heard of it before but couldn't recall where I first heard the name. I felt the same way before I watched Cowboy Bebop for the first time. The only thing I was certain about was that it was a mecha anime, and it was apparently one of the most classic anime of the 90's. The only other mecha anime that I had seen ... at the time was Full Metal Panic! Which I'm honestly convinced I am the only person that has seen that show in the vicinity of where I live. So I went into Evangelion knowing that I was probably going to like it, and I was kind of excited to experience a show that was revolutionary for the time period it came out and I was wanting to see if it had aged well since the decade it was released. And I'm happy to say that I think it is still pretty watchable today albeit I totally didn't feel that way at first.

So this show takes place in the year 2015, and it's somehow less accurate than the 2015 from Back to the Future Part II. It's kinda funny knowing that 2015 has come and gone and not one thing from this show has happened yet. But anyway, I remember first watching this show and I was like: "This is good, but it's not amazing." Like the first five episodes weren't bad or anything but there was something about them didn't get me completely invested in the way I thought this show would get me. Maybe it had to do with this show not really having a real beginning. Because the way this show starts, it kinda feels like this story has been happening off screen for a long period of time and we're just now peering into it. I mean I do like when a story starts like that, but here it just felt a little bit awkward to me. I guess I wasn't really accustomed to or really familiar with the vibe that this show was going for yet. But once I got to the end of episode six where Shinji and Rei had that really adorable moment with one another, that's when this show really began to win me over. And that was one of the first of few moments where the tone of this show was genially optimistic.

Because one interesting thing about this show is that everybody's kinda depressed, and for good reason. The world is expected to end soon by these alien-like creatures called Angels, the characters are dealing with their own personal trauma. Everyone has trust issues towards one another. It's also kind of scary how most of these character's feelings and the way they act are so personally accurate to me as a human being. The biggest example is definitely Shinji who I think tries to be someone he isn't, but at the end of the day, he's just a big softie. He also wants to be loved by other people, but at the same time he's afraid of people hurting him. He always seems to be conflicted and that's one thing I can commend this show for: the way they portray teenagers. Because teenagers are very confused on what they want and they're frustrating people to figure out and I think this show does a great job depicting that in a pretty subtle way. And this couldn't be more evident in the character Asuka, who's definitely the most frustrating character in the entire show. And honestly I didn't even like her at first, she's kind of a bitch, kind of annoying. And also really weird because she wants to do the dirty with Kaji, who's way older but he's not interested in her in a sexual way at all, even when Asuka forces him to sleep with her in a really uncomfortable scene. But I continually gave her a pass because she's a kid and I was assuming that something must have happened for her to be acting like this. Probably some traumatic past memory that makes her the way she is. And a traumatic past she definitely has and once you start to unravel that, her behavior makes so much more sense and I started to sympathize with her way more.

As far as the other characters go, I personally don't have much to say about them even though there is a lot to say about them. And there are a lot of layers to this show that I could never get into in a short amount of time. But I'll still mention some of the other characters that stand out to me. Like Rei who's not exactly human and she doesn't really have true emotions. Or Misato who kind of sees Shinji as a little brother and she's also dealing with a lot of personal turmoil in her life. Or Shinji's father Gendou who, I don't know it's never made clear what he wants from Shinji, he's mostly just a dead beat dad who just sees Shinji as a tool to control the mechs and save humanity and not as an actual son. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.

And speaking of the mechs or the Evangelions, I haven't even talked about them yet in this review. But the thing is this show is less of a true blue mecha anime and more of a dissection of the genre. You could still enjoy this show as a mecha anime but you're gonna be missing out on some of the finer details that the creators left. Like there are multiple scenes that are just an elongated moment that never cuts to the next scene. At first I thought my screen was frozen during these moments and the website I was on was buffering. But then they kept happening and I was like: "Ok there has to be something to this, it wouldn't be a mistake if they showed scenes like this more than twice." And I think the big eureka moment finally came during the elevator scene. Which yes, is very long winded and awkward, but that's kind of the point. This scene is purposely meant to be awkward and we as an audience are supposed to feel the same awkwardness and isolation the characters are feeling at that moment. Because even though Asuka and Rei are close in this elevator, they couldn't be more mentally distant from one another. Like they can barely have a small conversation without going back to silence.

There were also moments when this show would start playing classical music, specifically Air On A G String by Bach. Which was a little odd at first, but I think it became very effective during certain scenes and it kind of enhanced the moodiness that this show was going for. And it helps that the animation is breathtaking throughout. I think it's because CGI was kind of in its infancy period back then even with the first computer animated movie coming out the same year this show aired (That movie was Toy Story if you weren't aware). So I think it's just more impressive to see hand drawn animation like this where the animators had to work with the limited resources they had to craft their vision. I know some people say that they don't make them like they used to and they should go back to this style. I agree but the thing is they could never go back and they won't go back to this style. Things evolve and of course animation has evolved since technology has become more prevalent. And besides, hand drawn animation is such a painstakingly long and tiring process to do. There's just more efficient ways to animate nowadays. It's sad, but I think it's for the best.

Story wise this show is pretty solid. I was a little confused at certain points but I could still somewhat understand what was happening. Until I got to the final two episodes. Which leads me to the infamous ending which got a lot of attention back in the day for being a little too perplexing. And really my biggest complaint with this show is unfortunately the original ending. I obviously won't spoil it for people who haven't seen it, but it's supposed to be thought provoking. Which I don't really mind in fact I'm all for it. Especially for a mecha anime cause it's pretty bold to end a mecha anime like this. But if this show foreshadowed what the ending would be like or if the ending connected more to the previous episodes, I think less people would be scratching their heads. But instead this show throws a curveball out of nowhere without warning and that's probably what left a lot of people bewildered, me included. I remember watching it and being like: "Wait what? That's how it ends?" I wasn't even mad, I was just kind of fascinated with why they would end it this way. It's not a bad ending but it leaves a lot to be desired. I get what they were trying to do but it could've been executed a little bit better.

And I think the creators of this show realized that because two years after the original show aired, they released The End of Evangelion movie, which is an alternate ending to the original show, a placeholder for the last two episodes of that show. And I personally prefer this ending way more than the original. It's less confusing and more cinematic and epic, while still having thought provoking moments. Now I'm gonna talk about the movie very quickly for a moment in this review because I have the same rating for both this show and the movie, so I thought it would be more convenient to talk about them in the same review. Now The End of Evangelion movie is great and I do recommend it if you haven't seen it, there is a head scratching scene in this movie that really rubbed me the wrong way when I first saw it. And I'm gonna try to describe it without spoiling.

So there's this scene where this kid, we'll call Person A, is complaining that they're not good enough. And then an adult, we'll call Person B, slaps Person A on the cheek to bring Person A back to reality. Then Person B begins to give this monologue about perseverance and hope and it's all well and good. But then after this heartfelt speech, Person B decides to kiss Person A on the lips, then right after Person B says they might fuck Person A later. Now let's think about this for a moment. Person B is in their late 20's, while Person A is 14 years old. I think there's a really big problem here. I get that Person B is on the verge of death and maybe wants to give some final words and momentos for Person A before they bite the dust. But I don't know, Person B could've given Person A a hug or maybe a kiss on the forehead and I wouldn't even minded. But no, Person B had to go all out, and then they have Person B imply that they might want to have sex with Person A later, which is even more questionable. I don't why the creators thought this little moment was a good idea to put into the movie or they thought it would age well, I don't know maybe it's in the manga, and if it is, I guess I have no choice but to blame the author for this moment. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing this scene, but this is easily the worst scene in the movie. It made me cringe so god damn hard that while watching it I just wished that Chris Hansen showed up at the last moment to stop Person B from kissing Person A. Again, it's just a really weird scene that made my stomach churn and I hope I don't see it ever again. But besides that bullshit, great movie and if you want to skip the last two episodes of the original show to watch that movie, go right ahead, I do recommend that. But if you are curious to see what people were so confused about, then that's fine too.

So overall, I thought Evangelion was a great experience and I loved it quite a bit. I think emotionally and personally it hit close to home. And it's really interesting to see an anime explore depression the way this show does. And I think anime from this time period wasn't afraid to be more subtle than what you see today. And I probably said this before in another review, but I'm always a sucker for subtly and I think this show does a solid job at giving you that. Now I have heard that there are movie remakes that were released a few years ago. I've heard that most of them are pretty good. I'll probably check them out someday to see if they'll be worth my time. But yeah as far as the original is concerned, I think it's great and you should go watch it if you haven't seen it.

Season 1 becomes great after the first half, this Season 2 is great since the first episode, the quality is insane.

Best anime of the season and one of the best of the year.

Everything from the original source material is elevated by studio Mappa with their incredible Direction, Animations, Art and Soundtrack. This anime is a pleasure to watch.

As a football enthusiast, this is a really nice anime to begin with. I particularly enjoy anime that features a character who is trying to develop but is still in the learning period, but he overcomes and outperforms others. The characters in this anime are fantastic. It's simple to connect with the characters, and the animation is excellent. Without a dull episode, every episode is fantastic. This anime did a good job of making me wonder what would happen next and demonstrating that "if you believe you can achieve anything you want." I completed this anime on June 4th, 2023 and am looking forward to ...

The isekai that isn't a isekai, the story is set in a fantasy world from a multiplayer game in VR. There is no focus on real life, is like that the main character live in this fantasy world.

Animations are fine, art is nice, voice acting is good.
Episodes are simple and the anime is easy to watch.

We have a lot of clichés and generic aspects like the adventure guild and bad guys villains. The anime becomes ripetitive with a classic formula

In the 90's, there was a trend of wacky fantasy adventure comedies. Gokudo is one of them. The story is mostly a series of excuses for jokes and wacky antics, because of this there tends to be a lot of plot holes and throwaway story elements. Some arcs also suffer from pacing issues, for example the china arc drags on for too long, while the introduction feels like it was written on a crack overdose. But what about the jokes? The humor is very obnoxious most of the time and only one or two gags made me chuckle, this comedy just isn't funny..

Looking through other reviewers' thoughts on this series makes me wonder if any of them took an autism test yet.
I'm only going to say what's negative about Deadman Wonderland since that will tell you how much of it is not that good.

1. The manga was never fully adapted and the studio that was working on it ended in 2015. Would they have continued if they actually could fund another run for an anime? Who knows. The cliffhanger ending isn't a great way to end it but when it comes to unfinished adaptations, read the rest in the manga.

This anime is different from every single romance anime I've heard of. Most have a kind of character that's very typical-- like a tall guy, a short girl, and there's some element of dominance between them that remains the same each time (the man being the strong protector type or something.) This is of course a generalization.

This anime was great BECAUSE it was unique in a beautiful way. The main characters are deep and you can watch Ichikawa struggle with feelings of insecurity in later episodes, while Yamada has a lot to her (such as moments of bursting into tears, snacking whilst being a model, ... being smart but aloof, doing certain things carelessly, and trying to be close to Ichikawa but hiding her feelings) that make them both very vibrant characters.

We need an anime like this.

It's very honest, for one. It shows the difficulty in finding a relationship. It shows how, especially for middle school students, trying to understand somebody else in relation to yourself is not easy. Both characters are unable to clearly communicate how they feel, and it never cuts to the chase- In a good way.

It has the perfect amount of tension. I'll be honest-- just from a personal perspective, I'm not big on slow burns. They can lose my attention very quickly. This anime was the exception.

It lets moments be for just the perfect amount of time, so you can feel what's happening between them and really absorb what's going on. However, it's still interesting. It doesn't abuse this with a lot of filler. The long moments aren't pointless, they're meaningful. Every single time.

My only complaint was the secondhand embarrassment in the more cringey scenes (which there weren't an overwhelming number of, but they did create a bit of... uncomfortability.) I understand that it's meant to be, since it's that weird middle school time and things seem to feel like that. The inherent horniness of a boy going through puberty. Though, I don't think these were bad enough or common enough that they took away from the anime itself.

The story is beautiful. It's heartwarming, refreshing, and always leaves you craving more.

There've been some complaints about Ichikawa (not attractive, a coward, short, whatever else) but it's very important that his character is different like this. That's not a flaw of the story, it's a feature. Ichikawa is not the kind of conventionally attractive romance main character you'd find in any romance anime. But that doesn't mean he should be. He isn't good socially, he's insecure, and from the first episode it feels he's given up on the world. Retreated to an edgy shell to protect himself. He's very important because this anime showcases that self-doubt, and that struggle. It's very important to recognize that it's not uncommon to feel that way. And you get to see him try to deal with and overcome his social struggles. He doesn't know what he's doing! But he's trying, he truly is trying to make sense of his life and what's happening with Yamada-- but what he's learned about himself has convinced him that it can't be what he wants it to be.

It's beautiful. He has that depth, that relatability that makes him such a good character. We need more anime like this one. More anime that gives us something we didn't expect. More anime that shows us characters that are hurting and insecure. More anime with characters that really feel flawed and HUMAN.

This anime has another dynamic different to the one usually offered. They're equals, but Yamada takes on more of a caring, protector role. Ichikawa has to learn to understand that he is really an equal. That'll likely be big part of the story.

It's so normalized to expect the man to be in control. For the man to do everything. The man should make moves. This anime defies that. And it should!

TLDR; This anime is a great, heartwarming watch. It's cute and unique. The characters are deep, flawed, and feel human.

Man, it hurts watching something associated with Konosuba be THIS unfunny and boring.

I gave the first few episodes the benefit of the doubt - I hoped things would pick up, that the quality of writing and the jokes would improve... that at least SOMETHING interesting would happen. But nah, this shit is straight-up ASS.

Go back and watch Konosuba again, if you disagree. The writing is crisp and the pacing is snappy - The show has momentum. The jokes are funny and the situations the characters find themselves in are always hilariously ironic. The Megumin show, on the other hand, just meanders and weighs you down ...

Super Yoyo (original: Chousoku Spinner) is truly one of the greatest pieces media created in modern times. Inspiring the masses to play more YoYo and striking fear into the heart's of supporters of the YoYo devil this series truly impact any- and everyone who watches it.

Story: 10/10
Super Yoyo is an anime about Shunichi Domoto, a young student who enjoys helping out his peers with their sports related struggles, succeeding at everything he tries but never settling down into one discipline to focus on. After one such ... request he gets involved in the world of YoYo, starting a rivalry with the handsome, smart, talented and rich emo spinner Seito Hojoin. To beat him Shunichi joins the Japan Championship Carnival competition, facing off against many different and powerful foes (such as best girl Kirisaki Mai). The series follows his struggles and triumphs before and throughout this competition.

Characters: 10/10
The character writing in Super Yoyo is truly outstanding. Wether it be Benkai and his hilarious antics as a comic relief character or Seito Hojoin the emo spinner who is the biggest threat in the series, Super Yoyo's characters are always rich and interesting, enrapturing the viewers. The most impressive of these characters is the YoYo Cowboy shown in only a few scenes of episodes 19 and 22. Even through his short screentime his personality of being a cool Yoyo Cowboy is perfectly conveyed to the audience. Furthermore there is a fundamental dissonance in his character design, the conflict between the life of a Cowboy and the life of a Spinner is implicitly conveyed to the viewer, capturing both their attention and love. Another of these briliant characters is Kirisaki Mai, one of Shunichi's opponents in the competition, facing off against him in a VR hoverboard race on the moon. Her diligent yet prideful nature makes her an intimidating threat to Shunichi and she also has a lot of briliantly executed comedic scenes after her inevitable defeat.

Art: 6/9
The brilliant art style designed by Hashiguchi Takashi paired with the outstanding animation created by studio Xebec create one of the greatest artistic masterpieces since Leonardo DaVince. The characters constantly look gorgous and the changing artstyle reflects the development of both the characters and the story. All character designs are unique and memorable, especially the Yoyo Cowboy, who is dressed like an outlaw cowboy but is actually a spinner. Kirisaki Mai's design is also notable, being one of the most fanartable characters in anime history.

Music: 9/10
Music in Super Yoyo is probably the most incomprehensably brilliant part of the entire anime. It encapsulates the series' themes and ideas perfectly. Even if in part it might seem mismatched it is all part of the briliant story, creating the correct emotional response in the audience not through an alignment but a juxtaposition of the themes conveyed by music and text.

Voice Acting: 10/9
The english dub of Super Yoyo is the best thing about the show and it is what made me want to write this review in the first place. It is truly one of the most unique and exhilerating things I have experienced in my life and it has honestly changed me as a person for the better. Not only do the voice actors perfectly convey the emotions of the characters, their unique voice acting talents enhance the original characters even further, raising them to another level entirely. I don't want to go into more detail here as I want everyone to have the opportunity to experience this masterpiece for themselves.

Enjoyment: infinity/10
Super Yoyo is one of the most entertaining and enjoyable pieces of media out there and I wish from the bottom of my heart that anyone reading this review watches it.

All in all Super Yoyo is one of the greatest anime of all time, inspiring people to play Yoyo and entertaining you with it's brilliant comedy at the same time. That is why I would rate it as a 10/10

The feeling of emptiness after finishing the Legend of the Galactic Heroes OVA is definitely rough. Luckily, the prequel side stories have been adapted to anime, being a nice complementary material to the original series with the same care for detail and engaging stories.

This OVA focuses on the beginnings of Reinhard's career in the military, showcasing events such as Reinhard's first frontline expedition and encounters with future allies and foes. Reinhard's loyal best friend and ally Kircheis is also the main protagonist of one of the stories, giving more background to his feelings towards Reinhard and Annerose and his personal thoughts.

The series is divided into ... four arcs: Silver White Valley, Dreams of the Morning, Songs of the Night, Dishonor and A Hundred Billion Lights, a Hundred Billion Lights. The first story narrates Reinhard and Kircheis first ground frontline mission, the second feature Reinhard and Kircheis investigating a murder at their former military school, the third story focuses on Kircheis being on vacation and encountering a drug smuggling scheme. The final arc is much similar to the content seen in the main series, a longer story natarring the battle of the Van Flet Starzone, featuring the conflict from both the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance perspective, while also containing a minor arc about the Rosenritter. While not fully in chronological order (the majority of the fourth story takes place before the third story), it's recommended to be watched as the order listed.

The stories mostly showcase the inner workings of the Galactic Empire, its military and the nobility social system, portraying the corruption, debauchery and general incompetence of the dying Goldenbaum Dynasty and its associates. Reinhard comes face to face with the obstacles of prejudice due to his young age, social standing and overall jealousy from his noble-born superiors. His and Kircheis' prodigious leadership abilities and intellect are fully showcased in all of these stories, while still portraying Reinhard as a young and slightly arrogant teenager. Kircheis' introspective nature and his frequent advice to Reinhard help to balance their character dynamic, showing the reciprocity of respect and high regard in their friendship.

While there are some minor plot threads that tie the stories together,the first two stories are mostly self contained, the second story especially being less relevant in both terms of development and characters backstory. The second story being a straightforward murder mystery, somehow lacks the engaging stratagem and battle of wits that characterize LoGH. Although the brilliant fourth arc brings out some of the best aspects of LoGH, the dull second arc definitely brings down the overall enjoyment of this series.

Besides the story, the technical aspects of this series are similar to those present in the main series. The character designs are realistic and unique, with distinguishable features showcasing the ethnnic and age diversity of the characters. Just like in the main series, the animation quality can vary heavily and abruptly, some select scenes showing their age in cell animation and some reanimated scenes in full digital animation with digital coloring. While some viewers may find this jarring, the animation keeps being serviceable and especially good in the Silver White Alley arc. The voice acting is as good as in the main series, with all voice actors reprising the returning characters except sadly for Yang Wenli due to his voice actor untimely passing before the series' production. The opening song is Kid by Akemi, a beautiful song with masterfully written lyrics and visuals showcasing Reinhard and Kircheis as kids. There are four ending themes for each arc sung by Kei Ogura, a treat for fans of the original series with heartfelt lyrics mirroing Reinhard's and Kircheis' feelings and thoughts. The classical music OST by famous European authors also returns, a befitting soundtrack to Reinhard's meteoric rise to success.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes Gaiden is definitely a must watch for every LoGH fan, while not expanding on the story, showcasing Reinhard's formative years and experiences that made him the brilliant leader and commander we see in the main series.

While many write off the ending as "convenient", the commitment to the final decision involving one of the main trope characters arguably denies that. Exquisite! Transcendent! Magnificent! Sublime! Stupendous! Extraordinary! Unparalleled! Ineffable! Resplendent! Superlative! Prodigious! Enchanting! Majestic! Breathtaking! Captivating! Spellbinding! Sensational! Astounding! Unrivaled! Grandiose!
Are just some of the words that fail to fully describe the masterpiece that is Renai Flops: an anime that smacked me right in the face with its wild rollercoaster ride. It was as if I had incarnated into Chris Rock's body as Will Smith slapped him at the Oscars (sorry for using this dead joke, but you should get the idea). Oshi no Ko? Attack on Titan? Farmland Saga? Chainsaw Man? Bleach? All inferior; RENAI FLOPS is the true GOAT of modern anime.

Should you ... watch Renai Flops? Short answer, yes.

My first exposure to this anime was from Gigguk's Fall 2022 Nutshell video. Can't lie, I was deeply intrigued by what da dog was doin, but still restrained myself after seeing the considerably low MAL score it had received. From my biased point of few at the time, all anime under an average rating of 7 are simply mid. Sorely mistaken I was. I had only given this anime a try after watching Kamikatsu, that one anime you probably know for the "terrible" tractor CGI. Let me tell you this, Kamikatsu was miles superior to 99% of the stuff I have watched and read. Honestly, I believe these often overlooked and perhaps misunderstood anime with fresh concepts and bold humor to be wayyyyy better than widely accepted favorites like Spy x Family and Bocchi the Rock (no disrespect to those anime and fans of course, I'm just raising an example). Because I was exposed to certain amounts of spoilers, I walked into Renai Flops with caution, but it turned out to be completely useless as nothing could prepare me for this. Comedy? A lot, maybe even too much. I found myself laughing out loud and hardly controlling myself, something I haven't done for an anime perhaps except Grand Blue and Gintama, 10/10. Plot? A lot of plot, in more ways than one, 10/10. Characters? Very relatable. Everyone definitely has 5 beautiful "brides" pestering them, 10/10. I say this with sarcasm but the characters really are amazing. Saying too much will be spoiling, so I'll hold off on it. But, I have to yet again salute to Renai Flops, for it has moved me to tears, something that never happens to me with seasonal anime, and I can really only recall being this emotional for One Piece and Gintama.

Does Renai Flops have a sophisticated plotline with deeper meanings like AOT? No.
Does Renai Flops have peak animation like Demon Slayer? No.
Does Renai Flops have fleshed out characters like One Piece? No.

What Renai Flops has is change. If AOT, Demon Slayer, and One Piece are the sky, sea, and earth, then Renai Flops is the drill that will pierce the heavens (I couldn't resist the Gurren Lagann reference there, MB).

Just go watch it! If you have time to read all the way until the end of this review, surely you have more time to spare for Renai Flops? You won't regret it.

My opinion on Monster might seem controversial to some people, but I don't really love this show. The reason why is pretty simple: It's just not for me.

And the thing was, I went into it with a lot of high expectations and I thought it was going to be a personal favorite of mine. But once I started the show, I just didn't feel that way anymore. Because I did not get hooked at the beginning at all, in fact I thought it was so boring. I'm not even ashamed to say this, but there were some episodes where I nearly fell asleep. At ... first I thought it was because I was watching this show late at night so I decided to watch some episodes during the day, and I still felt tired while watching them. I was just turned off with how much of a slow burn this show was. And I don't really mind a more slower paced story, like one of my favorite movies of all time is Blade Runner 2049, and that movie is slow as fuck, like it's nearly 3 hours long. But I feel like the plot in that movie was way more interesting to my personal tastes than this show. I mean this show and 2049 have two totally different plots from one another. One is more grounded in reality and the other is more science fiction. But there was something about this show that I couldn't put my finger on and still can't figure out where I thought it was such a chore to get through at first.

Thankfully though, the more I watched it, the more this show began to grow on me a little bit more. And it was by the middle half of the show, episode 51 to be exact where I actually got the most invested in what was happening. Even though I didn't get hooked at the beginning, while watching it I could definitely see why other people would love it. This show has a lot of interesting ideas and concepts that it throws onto the table and I think it handles them very well. And this is a show that really takes its time giving you those ideas and concepts and that aspect isn't gonna be for everyone.

But I think all the characters are very compelling even when some of them are meant to be unlikable. They each seemed to have their own engaging mentalities and motivations. I liked the constant cat and mouse chases between characters from Dr. Tenma to Johan, from Detective Heinrich to Dr. Tenma, and Anna trying to chase Johan. And then you throw Eva into the mix and she wants to get back to Dr. Tenma. It makes for some interesting drama without devolving into a soap opera. I know I said this two times before, even though I felt like this show didn't grip me as much as I thought it would at the start, I still didn't know where the story was gonna go next. There were a lot of twist and turns that I didn't really see coming, and stories like that I appreciate quite a bit. And I also really like how all these stories going on at the same time gradually connect and tie in to one another and by the end they all lead to one singular goal: to take down Johan. There were points where I felt like I watching a live action mystery thriller from the 90's or reading a New York Times Bestseller. And I liked how the story got more expansive and dire as it went along. It just felt like thematically it was all gonna go to hell for the climax, and it did just that.

Now even though I said I became more interested during the middle half and I thought the climax of the show was very exciting and intense, unfortunately with the ending, I'm pretty on the fence with it. While I do appreciate them tying up most of the loose ends, I felt like the final scene of the last episode left me very underwhelmed. I obviously can't get into it without spoiling, but it's supposed to be a somewhat thought provoking ending. Which I don't really mind but I feel like it wasn't the satisfying conclusion that I was hoping for.

So overall, while I did like Monster quite a bit, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Maybe it was because I over hyped it a little too much, but by the end I was left a little divided but I still think it's a good show. I'll probably rewatch it someday to see if my opinion changes, but once again I liked it, but I didn't love it.

Forget LoTR... because this here is the ultimate drinking game challenge! You see - the humble game, in spite of its ultimate purport, must not lay the player to ruin (read: on the floor) in the space of a few hours, for that would constitute a plain old piss-up - but neither can it overly entertain, at which point the undertaking is jeopardised through detraction. Kurau Phantom Memory is, as an unsuspecting anime fan might find out, the perfect tool for the job, with enough writing mishaps to fill an abandoned diamond mine and spanning what seems like four times the amount of airtime over ... what one would expect. From the very first episode the key "pint action" moments establish themselves and then continue to amplify in both magnitude and frequency as the episodes roll on. Something important but of trivial impact happens? Sip. A main character's name is uttered? Sip. Said character looks sad, pensive, cries or perhaps ventures to stare into the distance? Sip. Classy music sounds totally misplaced? Sip. Ending credits song starts playing an hour too early? Another sip. You get the point, so read on if you dare. Gulp.

Think Prison Break's arduous non-prison part with a sprinkling of Chrno Crusade devoid of any romance, with the entire affair dialled down to 0.11 (that's 0,11 if you are of European persuasion), and the picture is bleak. Granted, on the face of it Kurau stands as very much the opposite of a run-of-the-mill garbage title, yet at the same time in certain key aspects it manages to exhibit typical traits of said "genre", including long stretches of scenes devoid of any meaning or value, dirt poor animation where the opposite is expected, and general non-writing. Corners were sacrilegiously cut in places and the on-screen circus just won't leave town. Albeit it did bring flying people, I like that.

Main characters - Kurau and Kristmas, while well designed, are begging to be kicked into gear compelling them to, well, actually do something of interest to the viewer, whereas side characters tend to get treated rather atrociously in terms of writing (which on occasion also extends into their attire - gasp!) The in-world "agent" occupation which keeps our protagonists gainfully employed and moves some events along comes off as totally bogus. Similarly, a certain dramatic backstory coined for a supporting character just feels tacked on and unnecessary. On the rare occasion that an event occurs which seems to hint at character development (see page N: main characters assign fake names to each other), take a gulp of your favourite spirit because let me assure you such opportunities are few and far between, and to top it all off the culprit event fails to lead anywhere and dissipates as briefly as it materialised, never to be mentioned again. Like some kind of phantom memory, or something.

Speaking of action scenes, the spoiler here is that there is not much to spoil: said action starts off as mildly entertaining and then (uh-oh) follows the same path already trodden more times than there are episodes up to that point, with no lessons learned by the ensemble whatsoever eventually, and possibly even with some repeating cutscenes tossed in for good measure. A song called "Eternal Cycle Of Delusion", while not at all related to anime, very much encapsulates the events portrayed in this one, circling around the same point despite all the variation going on inside. I won't spoil the plot which is adequate, it admirably zips through an array of varied locations and covers plenty of ground as expected of 24 episodes. However, because the characters don't seem to be moving along with the events portrayed, an opposite effect is achieved and we end up questioning whether we too should be feeling moved in any direction whatsoever. At several points rather tragic happenings occur on a large scale, and had you been caught ogling your mucky pint glass at that precise moment, you'd be left more interested in the gravity of your beverage rather than that of the said event on screen. In order to resolve predicaments, plot armour condenses into thick layers of most handy protective sediment about as efficiently as the next squad of baddies gets deployed: one example being, a laser weapon goes from a long-cooldown cannon to a friggin' blaster in no time at all.

Ideas presented in Kurau are engaging and have plenty of potential still. I leave it to more capable reviewers to cover the symbolism of the series, whereas my personal outtake was that the duality and elusiveness of this mysterious (checks notes) Rynax hints at the principle of quantum entanglement between two particles, and the themes integrated become even more intriguing when one considers how some contemporary theories suggest that consciousness itself may in fact be a quantum process. Now, the good people of the Kurau universe are doing what they were born to do, including exploring the "forbidden" energy source, it's just that they do it in the usual, unregulated manner. Can't blame them for it though, because there really doesn't seem to be much else to chase, courtesy of the world-building no less. Not even a fishy red herring to keep us engaged.

Art is generally solid if a little plain, does the job without much pretence. The technology portrayed is admittedly interesting and well designed, of which certain elements unfortunately get shoved onto our screens time and time again in the same guise, with little tact or regard for the location of the proceedings or viewer engagement in general. On the upside, the show is uncharacteristically devoid of overdone facial expressions contorted with terror and anger, with only one example of such, and a totally random character at that. Which is unlike certain titles such as (points finger) AoT and Demon Slayer where every character looks terrified and terrifying at the same time, in any given frame without exception. The opening and ending songs attempt to establish this mellow, relaxed mood, yet everything that happens in between those two oft-repeated snippets finds itself on the intersection of the conflicted and the played down. There is a tournament scene which should've been action-packed and mighty spectacular, and surprise-surprise - it manages to fall flat. Overall tone is perplexing and fails to settle on anything definitive - which in fact prompted this review, thus I suppose it did what art is intended to do - namely to send the (re)viewer on a trail of ruinous ramblings and ruminations.

Overall I'd summarise Kurau as a diamond in the rough which, before all the cutting and polishing, still needs to be extracted from the surrounding rock - it's certainly there but requires some serious digging. It'd be worth the effort though - not just for the shiny sparkle, but because inside it holds a coveted NV centre that may someday help us to harness the power of that elusive quantum particle. But for now the only object* to see some polishing action will be the pint glass; remember to keep it half-full rather than half-empty, and you might just find some enjoyment in this series.

I guess you can say this anime didn’t really live up to my expectations. The first half was pretty straightforward and understandable with the two main characters being swapped at birth and then now their parents decided that they should put them in marriage. This was an interesting watch to say the least. It's a very standard 'beginning of zombie outbreak' story with an unusually light-hearted tone. Miru Tights is a bit of an outlier in both the slice-of-life and ecchi genres. I wasn’t sure what to expect of this series beforehand, but it was definitely worth the watch.

The episodes are very short, clocking in at a 4-minute format. But in return for a short runtime we were blessed with some of the best artwork and animation I have seen in anime in recent years. The visuals are outstanding and a breath of fresh air in terms of visual style. I checked out the original artist, Yomu, after finishing Miru Tights and I can see now how faithful the animation studio was ... to his artworks and vision.

And at its core, Miru Tights is all about said artwork and its subject matter – girls in tights. The ecchi factor is integrated into the slice-of-life theme by avoiding many of the comical situations that would usually result in panty shots and the like in other series. Instead, we get wonderful, artsy camera angles and are free to enjoy the visuals at our leisure. These shots do not feel forced at all and allow the viewer to better appreciate the sensual hidden in the mundane.

The great art and animation are supported properly by amazing performances from the voice actresses. They’re very much believable, on-point in tone and teasingly sensual when the situation calls for it. You can really tell how skilled they are with their voices in exactly these mundane scenarios with realistic and normal dialogue. I find that good voice acting sometimes suffers from how the dialogue is written, and often turns into cringy screaming that lacks depth as a result. But not here. The writing was good and the VAs that worked on Miru Tights gave an excellent performance with plenty of emotion. Even though the characters are not very intricate, they are given at least a semblance of life thanks to the voice acting.

The story itself is not particularly gripping, and if you do not enjoy slice-of-life stories you will not enjoy Miru Tights at all. I personally enjoyed myself well enough, but I enjoy the genre to begin with. At the very least, I can’t say it was slow. The episodes are short but at least they also progress quickly, focusing on a scene or two with its accompanying issue, problem or situation.

The music is alright but nothing special. I enjoyed the ending song well enough.

All in all, Miru Tights is very much made for a particular audience. Yet even so, the way the series expresses itself carries more of a sense of dignity and artfulness than can usually be said of ecchi series. And for that reason I can recommend it even to people who do not fall into the tights-lover audience.

Pole Princess!! has been a surprisingly rewarding breath of fresh air, in short :)

For anybody willing to take a minute or two to look into what pole dance is nowadays (away from strip clubs) or anybody interested in performing arts, I think you'll be richly rewarded if you give this niche anime a chance. The isekai that isn't a isekai, the story is set in a fantasy world from a multiplayer game in VR. There is no focus on real life, is like that the main character live in this fantasy world.

The second season brings more characters, which I thought was unnecessary for the plot and even made the main story worse because several of these new characters did not have a very good deepening, which meant that in the end several characters were left aside and without any purpose.

It managed to break through my preconceptions and captivate me with its relatable characters and unique animation style. As ... someone who is an introvert and is anxious around people, its the perfect show for people such as myself. It's a heartwarming tale that beautifully captures the struggles and triumphs of someone dealing with social anxiety.

The narrative of Bocchi the Rock is well-crafted, keeping the viewers engaged throughout. The writers skillfully balance the comedic elements with the deeper underlying theme of personal growth. Characters:

The supporting characters in Bocchi the Rock are equally well-written and memorable. I love how Nijika and Kita are complete opposites of Bocchi, being extroverts who are openly socialize with confidence. It gives the story direction a lot more tension and makes Bocchi's achievements feel a lot more well earned. Extroverts commonly don't fit well with introverts and especially folks with social anxiety, so Bocchi being able to win them over feels a lot more inspiring. Among them, Ryo stands out as a relatable character due to her stoic and seemingly uncaring demeanor. It adds a lot to the overall humor and I find myself agreeing with her on a lot of topics. In a way, it shows another side of being an introvert; the kind of introvert who isn't afraid of social situations.

Animation:
The animation in Bocchi the Rock is nothing short of impeccable. What sets it apart is the ingenious way it blends various artistic mediums, enhancing the comedic moments and adding an extra layer of flavor to the overall experience. The vibrant colors, expressive character designs, and fluid animation work in perfect harmony, elevating the comedic timing and allowing the jokes and gags to land effectively. I'm a huge sucker for medium blending in animation - works such as "Mitchell vs the machines", "Spiderverse," and "Courage the Cowardly Dog" stand out among my favorites because of this. It's such a great showcase of an animator's abilities and shows that they are willing to experiment with different styles.

They've nailed it when it comes to capturing Bocchi's emotions and anxieties. The animation brings her internal struggles to life in such a real way. You can practically feel what she's going through. It's like the creators reached inside her and pulled out all those little details that make her journey so relatable. Usually in anime, when a character monologues, its often a shot of their face with nothing interesting going on in the background. In Bocchi the Rock, they take monologues up to new heights. an example can be seen when Bocchi herself ponders about the negative outlook regarding her future. The animators utilize claymation to describe her mental process, showing a clay model of her on a Monopoly board to emphasize how she feels its like a game she cannot win. It's pretty incredible, honestly.

Conclusion:
Bocchi the Rock is a gem within the moe anime genre, defying expectations and offering a refreshing take on relatable storytelling. Through its well-crafted story, compelling characters, and exceptional animation, the series manages to strike a chord with viewers, especially those who may relate to Bocchi's journey of overcoming social anxiety. There are flaws, for instance Japanese comedy tends to explain every single facet of a joke that it can annoy viewers with its lack of subtlety. There are also occasions when we see the main leads performing and a character who start to monologue over the song. I want to hear the song, man, not listen to you monologue about how good this makes you feel.

Whether you're into moe anime or not, let me tell you, Bocchi the Rock is an absolute delight. This series is all about uplifting your spirits and showing you the power of determination, talent, and inner strength. It's a wonderful reminder that we can overcome any challenge life throws at us.
